Helping People Of Waco
Find Debt Relief

Even insured Americans have problems with medical debt

Almost everyone requires medical treatment at some point in their life. The treatment could be the result of an emergency visit to the hospital or to treat a lingering condition. But almost any medical attention that you or loved one receives will generate costly bills. And in the United States, many people are struggling to pay their medical expenses.

Reportedly, 2014 saw 64 million working-age adults contending with excessive medical debt. This number actually represents a decrease from 2012 when the figure was 75 million people. This reduction has been attributed to the Affordable Care Act. But while the Act has clearly provided some relief, it has been far from a panacea.

In fact, even those who are able to afford insurance are still facing the prospect of daunting medical debt. A survey revealed that over 20 percent of insured Americans between the ages of 18 and 64 reported difficulties covering their medical expenses. And this number jumped to 53 percent for those without insurance.

Crushing medical debt is a common phenomenon. It is also a problem that will continue to plague millions of people throughout the country. But if you are being suffocated by medical bills  and even harassed by creditors demanding money that you simply don't have, you can take action to correct the situation.
